-----------------------------------------------

Welcome to Boating in Oregon. We're the Oregon State Marine Board, Oregon's recreational boating agency. Whether you paddle, fish or ski, the boating season is upon us. We are funded entirely by your boat registration fees, motorboat fuel tax, Aquatic Invasive Species permit and federal boating dollars. Using those dollars, we take pride in providing excellent facilities, top-notch marine law enforcement, life-saving education and environmental protection programs. Eighty-six percent of every dollar is returned to boaters through our programs. Click here to learn more....

Many of you have questions about the new Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Permit Program (AISPP), designed to prevent aquatic invasive species from gaining a foothold in our waterways. Fees are dedicated toward education, prevention and detection.

If your boat has a current registration decal (10 or 11) then you've already paid your fee. Operators of manually powered boats 10 feet or longer, such as canoes, kayaks, drift boats, rafts and small sailboats, must purchase and carry the $7 permit ($5 + $2 service fee) when using their boats. These permits are available at all ODFW license agents. Out-of-state powerboat operators will pay $22 ($20+$2 agent fee), also via ODFW license agents. The permit is also transferrable to other paddle craft! One permit per boat.

Review a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ's) about the aquatic invasive species prevention program.

RegLine
Click here to renew online now!
Renewal reminders with PIN's were mailed on 10/30/09. Renew online for 2011 decals. It's fast and easy! You can also mail in your registration card with payment, or see your local agent. Registrations for motor boats are valid for two calendar years.

If your boat registration has lapsed (not been renewed for several seasons), the online option will not be available. The quickest and easiest way to renew is by mail. Mail a check or money order made out to OSMB with the boat Certificate of Number (OR#) on the check memo. If your address has changed, please make note. Calculate the fee at $3 per foot (rounded up) plus $5 for the Aquatic Invasive Species Surcharge.

i.e. A boat 18 feet 2 inches = (19 X $3) + $5 = $62
Got your card?
Got your card?
The age phase in is complete, and now ALL BOATERS need to carry a Boater Education Card when operating a powerboat greater than 10 hp. Education cards are proof that you've taken a boating safety course.

The Boater Education Card is NOT a license. The card is a one-time $10 fee. The revenue goes toward education outreach materials and the cost of the card itself. This program is self-supporting.
Clean, Drain and Dry Your Boat
Zebra Mussel
New laws aim to help prevent infestation of zebra/quagga mussels and other nasty, damaging and expensive aquatic invasive species!
The Marine Board Members
The governing board consists of five members, appointed by the governor and confirmed by the senate. The Board sets state boating policy and has the authority to enact rules for boat operation on Oregon's waterways.
State of Oregon Furlough Days
Capitol Fountain
The Marine Board will observe union-backed furlough days. Coping with budget cuts requires closing most state offices and facilities to save money (days listed in the link below). We apologize for any inconvenience these closures cause during the 2009-2011 biennium.
Information to Know

Guided Whitewater Rafting on the Deschutes River
Navigation Hazards & Other Advisories
Kilchis Log Jam from 2008
The National Weather Service - http://www.noaa.gov/ -posts hazardous weather predictions for the Pacific Northwest to include gale force wind warnings, small craft advisories, and high surf advisories. The boating public is strongly encouraged to pay close attention to local weather and river bar forecasts before leaving port. Also, tune in to 1610 AM for the latest bar and weather conditions along the Oregon coast.

Boating Facility Updates!
Boat Launch
The Marine Board is committed to helping provide boaters with safe, sufficient, and quality boating facilities. Most boaters launch at a public boat ramp and will likely need to use boarding floats, a transient tie-up, a parking space, a restroom, a pumpout, or other amenities every time they go boating.
Where to Find Non-Blended Fuel
Dispensing Gasoline
HB 3497 allows retailers to sell non-blended premium "clear" gasoline, but refineries are changing how they blend gasoline. Stand by -there may be more changes on the way.
