Sail Boats

Titling and Registration
Titling and Registering Your Watercraft
Boats using any kind of motor, regardless of length, must be titled and registered in Oregon. Also, sailboats 12 feet and longer must be titled and registered in Oregon. Registration and title fees and marine fuel taxes support boating facilities, marine law enforcement and boating safety education.
Registration Tips
Online Registration Renewal

For ONLINE renewals, there's no agent fee! You can print out a 30-day temporary permit to operate your boat. You will receive new decals in 5-7 business days.

For decals expiring 12/31/07, renew now for your '09 decals!

Owners with boat registration decals expiring 12/31/07 can renew their registration to receive decals that expire 12/31/09. Just use your Certificate of Number (OR#) and assigned PIN to renew online. The PIN was issued with the Renewal Notice mailed in November. If you did not receive a Renewal Notice, please contact the Marine Board at (503) 378-8587.

Other options to renew your registration include mailing the payment (according to the fee schedule) to the Marine Board or visiting a local registration agent (agents charge a processing fee) with the expired Certificate of Number (registration card).

Please note that we cannot process payments for registration renewals prior to November 1st each season. If current registation decals are lost or have been removed to refinish the boat, a replacement set is $10. You may request a replacement by sending payment and a note listing your OR number directly to our office in Salem.

Theft on the Rise
Boaters beware of theft! Boat wiring and other metal have been targeted in the Portland/Metro area. Don't leave anything of importance on your boat. Be sure to keep your boat stored in a secure location and remove any important documents until you go out on your next voyage.
