Marine Board Meets In Bend Oct. 20

The Oregon State Marine Board, Oregon's recreational boating agency, will meet Wednesday, Oct. 20, in Bend. This meeting will offer the first look at the work plan for developing the rules to implement the new Mandatory Boater Education Program.

The meeting will be held at Mt. Bachelor Village, 19717 Mt. Bachelor Dr., just off Century Drive near Bend. The meeting begins at 1 p.m. The meeting is being held in a facility that is accessible for persons with disabilities. Persons needing some form of assistance to participate in this meeting due to a disability should contact Jill Andrick at (503) 373-1405, ext. 243, at least two working days prior to the meeting.

The agenda is as follows:

• Director's Report - Legislative wrap-up, financial report, registration report.
• Rulemaking request: Board will be asked to consider rulemaking regarding the Tualatin River, boat operations in Clackamas County, and boat operations in Washington County.
• Rulemaking request: Upper Deschutes River - emergency temporary closure.
• Law Enforcement program report
• Education/Information report
• Review and approval of work plan for Mandatory Education Program
• Facility program report
• Consideration of facility grant requests
• Boaters survey presentation

A period will be allowed for non-scheduled remarks from the public.
