Boating Access Projects Vie For Approval
The Oregon State Marine Board, Oregon's recreational boating agency, will
consider grants totaling $2.1 million for boating access projects statewide
during their June 29 meeting in Newport. The board will sort through some
70 proposals for projects across the state seeking $8.2 million.
The meeting will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 29. It will
be held at the Holiday Inn Newport, 3019 N. Coast Hwy. The meeting is being
held in a facility that is accessible for persons with disabilities. Persons
needing some form of assistance to participate in this meeting due to a
disability should contact Jill Andrick at (503) 373-1405, ext. 243, at
least two working days prior to the meeting.
Facility project proposals include boat docks, ramps, parking lots and
restrooms. Proposed projects are located throughout the state and include
standard maintenance, repairs, upgrades or construction of new facilities.
Items on the agenda include the following:

Director's Report - This includes the legislative report, budget report,
financial report and registration report.

Final Consideration of Rulemaking, OAR 250 Division 16 Outfitter/Guide
- The board will consider minor changes to existing rules to make it easier
for outfitters and guides to comply with the Nonresident Hunting Tag Allocation
Certification Program.

Diamond Lake Speed Limit - A recently adopted state law calling for a speed
limit increase on Diamond Lake will be explained to the board. No action
will be taken at this time - provisions in the bill state that if funding
for fisheries restoration work at Diamond Lake is approved, the speed limit
will not be liberalized until June 15, 2000.

Emigrant Lake Speed Limit - The board will revisit a request to reduce
boat speed in the Hill and Emigrant creek arms of Emigrant Lake in Jackson
County to "slow-no wake." The board declined to act on the request at their
May meeting to further consider the request.
