Clean Boating Week Begins July 10
National Clean Boating Week is July 10-18. To help boaters learn and practice clean boating strategies, the Oregon State Marine Board will hand out Clean Boating Packets in cooperation with Portland-area marinas during Clean Boating Week.
"This is an effort to help boaters help themselves and the environment," said Dave Obern, who is coordinating Clean Boating Week activities for the board. "We all like clean waters for swimming, skiing, fishing and boating - clean water is part of what draws us here. Boaters have a responsibility to do their part to keep their boats in good operating condition, pack up all trash and make sure they leave the waters as clean as they found them or cleaner."
Packets include a litter bag, bilge pad for collecting oil from the bilge, informational brochures and handouts on clean boating practices. Packets will be available July 10-18 at pump-outs and fuel docks at the following locations:
