OYCC Grant Requests Approved
The Oregon State Marine Board approved six
challenge grants to the Oregon Youth Conservation Corps for projects
will benefit motorized boating facilities around the state. The
board met via phone conference Tuesday, April 4.
OYCC has been an active partner with the
Marine Board for 12 years. Through the program, youths learn skills
constructing a variety of boating access facilities. They also
receive training in water and boating safety. They have completed
dozens of projects across Oregon waterways.
The Marine Board approved $58,903 for six
projects. Projects include:
- Crook County - Crook County Parks &
Recreation District and State Parks: General maintenance and
repair at Prineville and Ochoco reservoirs.
- Deschutes County - Deschutes National
Forest: Boarding float construction and maintenance at East and
Paulina lakes and Wickiup Reservoir.
- Douglas County - Phoenix School: Picnic
area construction at Ben Irving Reservoir, repair floats at Cooper
Creek.
- Grant County - Grant County Training and
Employment Consortium: Float repairs, bank stabilization and
other maintenance at Magone and Unity lakes, Adopt-A-River clean-up
project on John Day River.
- Lane County - Looking Glass Youth Services:
Float renovation, site maintenance, clean up.
- Wallowa County - Wallowa County Training
and Employment Consortium: Wallowa Lake boating facility repairs,
repair work at Dug Bar, clean-up at Hells Canyon boating facilities.
