For Immediate Release |
A petition requesting motor restrictions on several popular south coast fishing rivers has been proposed to the Oregon State Marine Board. Public comment is now being taken on the proposals and a public hearing is planned for Thursday, June 29, in Gold Beach.
Petitioners are requesting the Marine Board to prohibit the use of motorboats on Floras Creek and the Elk, Pistol, Sixes and Winchuck rivers. The stated intent is to "reduce conflict among recreational boaters and enhance the quality of the boating and angling experience for all boaters."
Public comment will be accepted until Friday, June 30. A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 29, 7 p.m., in the Blue Room of the Curry County offices in Gold Beach, 94235 Moore Street.
Written comments must be received no later than 5 p.m. Friday, June 30. Comments may be mailed to: Oregon State Marine Board, PO Box 14145, Salem, OR 97309. Comments may also be faxed to (503) 378-4597, or e-mailed to marine.board@state.or.us.
