Boat Registration Cards Are In The MailAbout half of Oregon’s registered boat owners are now receiving their courtesy boat registration renewal card in their mailbox. The Oregon State Marine Board, Oregon’s recreational boating agency, mailed 98,000 of the postcards Oct. 31 to remind Oregon boat owners that it’s time to renew their boat’s registration. Boats are registered on a two-year cycle with roughly half registering each year. “If you use this postcard and send your registration renewal through the mail, we will turn it around in just a couple of weeks - well before the boating season begins,” said Randy Henry, of the Oregon State Marine Board. “Waiting until boating season is close could mean a delay we usually get a pretty good glut of renewals the first nice days each spring. It will save you time to renew now.” The postcard is simply a reminder that your boat’s registration will expire Jan. 1, 2002. A boat with an “01" registration decal must be renewed prior to use in 2002. If your boat registration decal is “02,” it’s good for another year. The postcard includes registration fees and other information. If your registration expires in 2001 and you don't receive a notice, or if you have other questions about the renewal notice, please call the Marine Board at (503) 378-8587. ### |
