Marine Board Prepares Budget

The Oregon State Marine Board's preliminary 2003-05 budget will be one of the primary topics of discussion at the next Oregon State Marine Board meeting, Thursday, April 4, in Salem. The meeting will be held at the Marine Board headquarters, 435 Commercial St. NE, #400, and will begin promptly at 9 a.m.

The meeting agenda follows:

  • Director’s report on registration and other agency matters.
  • Development of agency 2003-05 budget request - Discuss time lines, inflation factors, charges for state agency services and package proposals for restoration of programs reduced in previous budget cycles.
  • Legislative concepts for the 2003 legislative session.
  • Duplicate registration/decal fees and Automatic Refunds (final action) - Proposal to revise fees for duplicate decals and certificates to reflect costs.
  • Boat operations on Sauvie Island in Columbia and Multnomah counties (final action) – Staff is recommending a 5 mph, slow-no-wake speed limit on all waters in the Sauvie Island Wildlife Area, except the Gilbert River.
  • Consideration of funding for OYCC projects and Detroit Lake CVA project.
  • Program reports from Education/Information, Law Enforcement and Facilities.
  • Law Enforcement long-range program planning report.
  • Reservoir levels and river flows - US Army Corps of Engineers projections of water resources available this spring in the Willamette and Rogue basins.
  • Annual rulemaking - Staff will provide a summary of boating regulation requests. The Board may provide direction for further consideration of requests.
