Board Approves Additional Funds for The Dalles Project
The Oregon State Marine Board, meeting via phone conference on Thursday, Jan. 29, approved a request for additional funds for a boating access improvement project at the Port of The Dalles Marina.
In June of 2003, the Marine Board approved the use of federal Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) and Clean Vessel Act (CVA) funds to add a transient tie up and a pump/dump station to the marina. The upgraded facility is designed to improve service to boaters transiting the middle Columbia River. The project requires old pilings to be removed and new pilings to be installed. Contractors unexpectedly encountered bedrock, which required additional funds to drill holes to install the new steel pilings.
The board approved a not-to-exceed expenditure of $85,500 to install a portion of the pilings with the Port of The Dalles covering remaining costs.
