Multnomah County River Patrol Honored For Service

The Oregon State Marine Board has bestowed several top law enforcement awards to the Multnomah County Sheriffs River Patrol program and staff for service to Oregon’s boaters. The awards were announced during a recent meeting in Bend.

Lt. Monte Reiser received the Program Manager of the Year award for his efforts in turning the program into a highly efficient waterway enforcement unit. The program also received the Most Improved Program award, showing more effective on-water patrols, responsiveness to local concerns and cooperation with the Marine Board.

In addition, Multnomah County River Patrol Deputy Jessica Harkin was honored as top Seasonal Deputy in a Year Round Program.

“The Multnomah County River Patrol has excelled under Lt. Monte Reiser’s leadership,” said Marine Board Law Enforcement Program Manager Bill Rydblom. “They have excellent staff who perform their jobs extremely well. They truly are a service to boaters on the Columbia, Willamette and other waters of Multnomah County.”

Other awards announced during the meeting include: Top Seasonal Deputy, Seasonal Program to Brad Maesner, Deschutes County; Rookie of the Year to Dep. Jon Bock, Lane County; Trooper of the Year to Sr. Trooper Marshall Maher, NW District Oregon State Police; Award of Excellence to Sgt. Marc Heckathorn, Jefferson County; Special Award to Lt. Steve Lane, OSP NW Region Manager; Marine Investigation Award to Dep. Tom Turk, Jackson County; Certificate of Appreciation for theft and investigation support to Jackson County; Top Boating Under the Influence Enforcement Award to Dep. Jimmy Gyllenskog, Jackson County; Seasonal Program of the Year award to Polk County; Yearly Program of the Year award to Jackson County; Tom Rice Instructor Award to Dep. Ernie Fields, Josephine County.
