Oregon State Marine Board Honors Facilities
The Oregon State Marine Board’s Facilities Program honored several programs and individuals for their service to Oregon’s boaters at their biennial grant workshop in Oregon City on February 1st.
Dan Kromer, Willamette District Manager for METRO was honored with the Professional Service award. The facilities Kromer has helped build are among the most popular and busiest facilities in Oregon. Kromer has guided the rebuilding of the second largest public boating facility, M. James Gleason Ramp, on the state’s largest and most-used body of water, the Columbia River.
Boardman Parks & Recreation District received the Best Maintained Boating Facility award for Boardman Marina Park on the Columbia River. This award recognizes outstanding achievement in maintaining public boating facilities.
Paul Stallard with Salmon Harbor Marina was awarded the Outstanding Boating Facility Maintenance Staff award. The thoroughness of Stallard’s efforts can readily be seen in the immaculate condition and functionality of the facilities that serve the boaters who visit Salmon Harbor Marina.
Jim Row, Recreation Services Manager for the City of Oregon City, was honored with the Outstanding Support Staff award. Row has been involved in the nearly completed project at the Jon Storm Park Transient Tie-Up. Row has demonstrated outstanding skills in dealing with design and contractual issues. The resulting project is not only a reflection of his skills and abilities in a support role but also as a project manager.
Lincoln County received the Best Grant Project award for Strome Park. Strome Park is located near the head of tide on the Siletz River. This facility is extremely popular with anglers. The new Strome Park is quite spectacular and sure to be even more popular and appreciated by the local anglers.
