Polk County Marine Patrol Receives Personal Watercrafts from Cycle Sports

The Oregon State Marine Board and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are appreciative toward Cycle Sports of Salem for the use of two personal watercrafts (PWCs). Cycle Sports has been huge supporter of promoting safe boating and does so by participating in the Law Enforcement Loaner Program. This is the third year that Cycle Sports has sponsored the program with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

“By having these tools on the water, the deputies are able to access more areas of the river as well as get closer with the boating public. This helps us promote water safety and safe boating practices” says Sheriff Bob Wolfe of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Bombardier’s loaner program is designed to make boating equipment easily accessible to government agencies in charge of water law enforcement, education, and rescue. Equipment is loaned free of charge for a period of one to two years, due to a limited number. The number one goal of this program is to increase boater safety. It is also an educational tool used in such areas as schools and fairs.

Once the loaning period has ended, agencies are encouraged to purchase the equipment they have tested. Each purchase is made through a boat dealer and a discount is often given. Requests for the loaner program are submitted to a dealer then sent to a district manager for approval. Polk County will use the loaned PWCs until October of this year before returning them to Cycle Sports.
