Proposed Rule Change on Fourmile Lake

The Klamath Ranger District has requested a 10 mph speed limit on Fourmile Lake in the Fremont-Winema National Forest in Klamath County. The Oregon State Marine Board is hosting a public meeting on the proposed rule at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16th at the Klamath Ranger District office, 1936 California Ave, Klamath Falls. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Fourmile Lake is 740 acres and has been enhanced for water storage. It is used as a small-boat fishing lake since there is no developed access for large boats. Boaters need to be aware of the numerous stumps and floating debris found on the lake. The lake has been posted 10 mph for many years, but no actual rule was ever put in place. Thus, the proposal will not effectively change the use of the lake compared to previous years, according to the Marine Board.

A public comment period also opens June 1 and continues through June 30. Comments may be mailed to Randy Henry, OSMB, PO Box 14145, Salem OR 97309. Comments may also be sent via e-mail to Randy.H.Henry@state.or.us, or via fax to (503) 378-4597.

If you have questions on this proposed rule, please contact Randy Henry at (503) 373-1405 x240.
