Marine Board Meets in Salem December 14
 
For Immediate Release
 
The Oregon State Marine Board will consider proposed rules restricting boat operations on the Illinois River and North Fork Siuslaw River, and will also discuss rulemaking revisions for the Mandatory Education Program.  These and other agenda items are scheduled for the December 14 Board meeting in Salem.
 
On the Illinois River issue, Board members will decide if motorboat operation on the Illinois River in Curry County should be prohibited during the summer months when river flows are low and swimmers are using the river.  On the North Fork Siuslaw, near Florence, the Board will decide if a 5 mph speed limit is necessary.
 
The meeting will be held at the State Marine Board office and will begin promptly at 9 a.m. The agenda items include the following:
  • Director’s Report
  • Planning Report
  • Rulemaking –Mandatory Education Program update and amendment related to Internet course providers
  • Rulemaking –Boat Operations in Curry County, Illionis River
  • Rulemaking –Boat Operations in Lane County, North Fork Siuslaw River
  • Law Enforcement Program Report
  • Education/Information Program Report
  • Facility Program Report
