Marine Board Plans Conference Call Meeting

For Immediate Release
The Marine Board has scheduled a conference call meeting for Monday, May 21 at 2 p.m. to discuss amended contract awards. The Board is required to approve any amendments to facility grant projects.  Several projects require amending their original grant award:
  • City of Harrisburg -Harrisburg ramp, floats and gravel bar removal.  The Board originally approved $198,000 to construct a new ramp, floats and to remove a gravel bar deposited by high water during 2006.  The volume of the gravel increased during the winter of 2007, increasing the cost of removal.  City is requesting an additional $145,000.
  • Columbia CountyJ.J. Collins Marine Park East Transient Tie-up Floats. The Board originally approved $589,000.  During construction, addition work was identified that is outside the original scope of the contract and award amount.  The county is requesting an additional $25,000.
  • City of West Linn –Cedar Oak Dredging.  The Board originally approved $58,600 for dredging.  Unforeseen material not covered in the original dredging permit was identified, requiring a new permit and more extensive dredging.  The city is requesting an additional $70,000 to complete the necessary dredging to make the launch ramp accessible to boaters.
  • Linn CountyCalkins Park New Boating Facility Development.  The Board originally approved $499,000 in 2005. The county is requesting an additional $251,000 to cover unforeseen pre-construction requirements such as environmental studies, utility relocations, and other items.

Members of the public are invited to attend the conference call at the State Marine Board office, 435 Commercial Street N.E. in Salem.  Board members will call in promptly at 2 p.m.
