Marine Board Honors Clatsop County Parks
For Immediate Release
The Oregon State Marine Board recognized the efforts of Clatsop County Parks, with the Best Maintained Boating Facility Award. The award was presented to Steve Meshke, Park Ranger, during the Marine Board’s bi-annual Facilities Grant Workshop in Salem, January 30.
The Best Maintained Boating Facility Award recognizes an agency whose boating facilities exemplify the high standards set by the Marine Board’s Maintenance Assistance Program.
“ Clatsop County has managed a significant turn-around in the maintenance of its facilities,” said Wayne Shuyler, Boating Facilities Program Manager for the Marine Board. In addition to Marine Board site visits and inspections, the Marine Board has received many unsolicited, positive comments from boaters launching at John Day County Park. Because of their proximity to the Columbia River, the Buoy 10 fishery, and the Pacific Ocean, Clatsop County boating facilities are especially popular with anglers during the salmon fishing season as well as cruisers and yacht clubs during the summer months. Clatsop County has managed to keep facilities in tip-top shape for all of the user groups.
