Marine Board Honors Port of Coos Bay
For Immediate Release
The Oregon State Marine Board recognized the efforts of the Port of Coos Bay with the Outstanding Grant Project Award for 2005-2007. The award was given during the Marine Board’s bi-annual Facilities Grant Workshop in Salem, January 30.
The Outstanding Grant Project is awarded to an agency for a project during the biennium that meets or exceeds the high expectations of the Marine Board. The Port of Coos Bay is the recipient of this award for the Charleston boat ramp project. Don Yost, Harbormaster and Mike Gaul, Port Operations Manager, accepted the award.
Replacing the Port’s six-lane ramp and 400 feet of boarding floats at Charleston was one of the largest construction projects ever undertaken with Marine Board grant funding. The ramp and float replacement was a model project, in part because the Port and West Coast Contractor, Inc. utilized a number of creative solutions that allowed all the work to be completed on time and within budget.
