Marine Board to Meet at the Portland Expo
The Marine Board will host a round-table discussion and will hear invited testimony regarding boat wake complaints on the lowerWillamette River at its Board meeting on January 8, 2008. The meeting will be held at the Portland Expo Center, Meeting Room D204, 2060 N. Marine Drive in Portland. The discussion will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by open public testimony from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. During that period, members of the public are invited to address the Board and comment on wakeboarding activities, erosion or other wake-related issues along the lower Willamette River.
From 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Board may consider whether to authorize a rulemaking process to limit boat wakes on portions of the lower Willamette River in Clackamas and Yamhill Counties .
The Marine Board will follow the lunch hour with the traditional meeting format beginning at 12:30 p.m. to discuss the following agenda items:
- Unscheduled Testimony
- Approve September 27 Board Meeting Minutes
- Director’s Report
- Consideration of new rulemaking requests for Sitcoos Lake in Lane County and Siletz River in Lincoln County.
- Request by Lane County for a “Slow No Wake –Max 5 MPH zone near Camp Baker on the Kiechle Arm of Siltcoos Lake.
- Request by the City of Siletz to ban all motorboats above Hee Hee Illahe Park on the Siletz River. -Item withdrawn on 12-24-07.
- Consideration of Rulemaking for a New Boating Safety Education Grant Program
- Education/Information Report
- Facility Program –Approve Facility Grant Requests
- Facility Program Report
- Policy and Planning Staff Report
- Law Enforcement Program Report
There is no cost to enter Expo grounds to those persons attending the meeting. The meeting is accessible for persons with disabilities. Persons needing some form of assistance to participate in this meeting due to a disability should contact June LeTarte at 503-378-2617 by Monday, January 7. Persons wishing to address the Board on non-agenda items may do so during the designated period at the start of the traditional meeting.
