Marine Board Seeks Input on Proposed Rule at Plat I Reservoir
For Immediate Release
The Oregon State Marine Board is interested in hearing from the public on a proposed rule at Plat I Reservoir in Douglas County to restrict boating traffic to a full-time 10 mph speed limit. The current regulation restricts traffic to a 10 mph speed limit between 6 p.m. and 11 a.m. daily. Public comment on the proposed rule will be accepted through April 11. A public hearing will be held Wednesday, April 11, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife office, 4192 N. Umpqua Highway, in Roseburg.
Plat I Reservoir is a shallow 157 acre irrigation reservoir located near Sutherlin. It is a popular fishing location with good bank access and one improved boat launch. Stumps and debris limit high-speed use to the area adjacent to the earthen dam that forms the reservoir.
The Marine Board is also accepting written public comment on the proposed rule. All comments must be received by April 11. Comments can be sent to Randy Henry, OSMB, P.O. Box 14145, Salem, OR 97309. They can also be sent via email to randy.h.henry@state.or.us, or via fax (503) 378-4597. Comments via telephone cannot be accepted.
