Input Sought for Proposed Rule for Offshore Charter Boats
For Immediate Release
The Oregon State Marine Board seeks public input regarding the use of satellite telephones as an alternative to single sideband radios when operating beyond 20 miles offshore. Comments on the proposed rule will be accepted until February 21.
In addition to the proposed rule, the Board directed staff to review all of the current Oregon Ocean Charter Boat equipment requirements, including navigation equipment and life raft requirements for boats traveling beyond 20 miles.
The Marine Board is accepting written public comment on the proposed satellite telephone rule. All comments must be received by Wednesday, February 21. Comments can be sent to Bill Rydblom, OSMB,P.O.
