Marine Board to Hold Public Meeting for Proposed Regulation on Prineville Reservoir

The Oregon State Marine Board will hold a public hearing in Prineville on May 20 regarding a proposed rule for Prineville Reservoir.  The meeting will be at the County Annex –County Meeting Room, 320 N.E. Court Street./3rd St. in Prineville.  The hearing will begin promptly at 7 p.m.

The proposed rule would create a slow-no-wake zone from north of the marina across the reservoir and south of the marina across the reservoir.  The reason for the proposed rule is that increased boating activity and larger wakes have reportedly caused damage to moored boats and injured people boating adjacent to the marina.

The Marine Board is also accepting written public comment on the proposed rules beginning May 1.  All comments must be received by Saturday, May 31.  Comments can be sent to June LeTarte, OSMB, P.O. Box 14145, Salem, OR 97309.  They can also be sent via email to osmb.rulemaking@state.or.us, or via fax (503) 378-4597.  Comments by telephone cannot be accepted.
